In 1968, fourteen men joined together to form the Sacramento Chapter of the Mexican American Golf Association. A meeting was called to form an Executive Board and a Board of Directors in preparation for the chartering. It was decided they would have a Golf Tournament and Dinner on the day the State Officers were scheduled to arrive. Arrangements were made to have the golf tournament and dinner at the Sunset Whitney Country Club. The Sacramento Chapter of the Mexican American Golf Association was chartered On August 24, 1968.
